Planning the summer reading: History side
Jun. 18th, 2019 01:17 pmI have been reading Historia mínima de Galicia (Minimal history of Galicia), by Justo Beramendi. It's not even 300 pages long, but I think it's a good starting point to learn about Galician history and I plan on using his bibliography for further reading. You know, if they aren't out of print, because I'm crying about one dealing with the 8th-11th centuries being unavailable.
There's a copy of both volumes in Marín's local library. Galician public libraries have a common online catalogue, so maybe I can ask in my libary to get it here? One of my friends is a librarian, I should ask her to see how it works.
On the Egyptian front: I'm going to start reading Historia del Antiguo Egitpto (The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt), by Ian Shaw before I start with
taichara recommendation, Judgement of the Pharaoh: crime and punishment in Ancient Egypt. I barely know anything about that part of history, so I want to build a base before I dive into something more specific.
EDIT: My friend has just told me that the interlibrary loan is not just between Galician libraries. It applies to most of Spain and there are also some European deals. * insert eyes emoji here*
