And yet she could never forget the horror in Zevran's face when he noticed that the dreams were getting worse.

“You're not going.”

That cursed song was so loud now. Sometimes she was tempted to follow it and leave everything behind.

She knew that the flower wasn't in this mountain, she had been searching long enough to realize that. She also knew that she should sleep, search something to eat now that the few rations she had brought with her were nearly gone.

But she couldn't forget how her patients had turned into those monsters, how they had attacked those that weren't infected by these new illness.

She couldn't forget the blood and the screams as she and Young-Shin miraculously managed to get away to close the doors.

Seo-Bi didn't stop digging until she heard two pairs of footsteps behind her.

Sometimes, Lightning feels like her interactions with god and goddesses were cursed. Etro? Failed her mission and her original world got destroyed. Cosmos? Horrible death at the hand of those crystal puppets. Bhunivelze? Traitor that tried to make her the new goddess of death and trap her. Materia?

Well, Materia was the clear proof that you shouldn't trust a goddess new to her job. Not only had her been returned to the wrong world, she had been returned to the wrong time.

So, here she was, trying to figure out how to react to the presence of a teenaged Cloud.

After all is said and done, Noctis wakes up in the Regalia, and the first thought that comes to his mind is a simple “what a strange dream”. The memories are fuzzy, like they were from a dream he can't quite bring himself to remember. There's a part of him, however, that feels like none of it was ever a dream.

It's not until much later, when he wakes up from his long sleep, that he remembers what had taken place in a barren world. He remembers, in that dark prison, its gods and a dragon trying to devour all.
