It's just a 5% chance

I've started to get the hang of playing with the Necromancer in Loop Hero, and today I nearly got to the second boss. That boss takes forever to summon, and I swear I would have summoned it if not for the bandits that were in the map. They have an ability called Brigand that, according to the wiki, has a 5% chance of destroying your gear (equiped or in inventory).

I went up against 4 bandits. They destroyed like half of my gear, including the ring I was using to quickly summon new skeletons. I need to remember to destroy the bandit camps as soon as I can, because turns out that they can be quite annoying.
