Tumblr new rules are up

 Yesterday, Tumblr's new rules regarding NSFW arrived to the site and... no one got deleted. Except they kind of did.

The new rules are simple: no NSFW content of any kind, except written. This doesn't mean that if you post NSFW you'll get deleted, in practice this means that your blog will be tagged as NSFW and the options of  "don't let this blog appear in searchs" (Tumblr searchs included) are turned on... permanently, the owner of the blog can't change this options now.

In practice, blogs that have posted NSFW content are now invisible to everyone, and their avatar is the same for everyone of those blogs. Did you follow a NSFW blog content with your favourite 18+ fanart? Congratulations, you may continue to see their posts.

Do you want to find NSFW content for your favourite ship but you don't know where to find it? Well, sorry, you can no longer find it. Unless someone in your dash happens to reblog it, you won't be finding this kind of content anymore, which is a big blow to online fandom.

So... What now? Back to Deviantart to find that kind of fan content?

This whole thing has just been utterly fucking ridiculous. I’m basically moving permanently to DW, I think, since Pillowfort is NOT my cup of tea. At least here we can pretty much do what we want, and so far my circle is pretty chill.

I wish I had more informed opinions about the art thing and where that content can be hosted,but I’m not a visual artist. I just wish I could do more, you know?

I'm not leaving Tumblr permanently, but I'm also going to start being more active over here.

Pillowfort right now doesn't have very good servers, and I think its team is still a bit too green. Maybe in a couple of years, but not right now.

And, yeah, also no a visual artist. The other place I went for fanart was Deviantart, and that's it.

Yeah, being out of tumblr permanently doesn’t sit quite right with me (my dash is still pretty active). I’m just...generally happier on DW so far.

I know many of the artists I follow have gone to Twitter, fwiw.

I’ve heard it called “federated social media” and while I’m not a fan of the specific term, having multiple platforms for different purposes pleases me greatly. What are your feelings on that?

Sorry I took so long to answer, we're close to the end of the year and things have been crazy at work this week... and this month has already been crazy enough, @_@

I mean, before Tumblr it was what I usually did. Deviantart for fanart, FF.Net for fanfic and Livejournal to see what some people were up to. Also, Twisting the Hellmouth for Buffy crossovers, because I was and still am a crossover whore (I swear crossovers used to be more common some years ago).
