Devil May Cry 5
Mar. 11th, 2019 10:33 amFull disclosure: I have only seen the cutscenes. I plan on getting the game this week, but I'll probably won't be able to play it until next week (stupid adult life).
Anyway.
Devil May Cry 5.
I'm putting things under the cut, just in case.
For those wondering: Yes, Nero finally learns that Vergil is his father. Took them some years to mention in a game, but better late than never.
Now, to the current reason why Tumblr doesn't like this game: V and who he really was. Long story short, Vergil came back and separated his self in a human self, V, and a demon self, Urizen AKA the guy we're trying to kill the game.
The thing is, between the first trailers and the release of the game, the fandom created fanon involving V and got really into shipping V with either Dante or Nero, but now it has turned out that those ships are a bit... incestous. See, there's a reason why I don't get myself involved in pre-release shipping or fanon, specially with the new character that has white hair. Of course he was going to be related somehow, XD
Fact is, I love V being the part of Vergil that Vergil keeps ignoring because it makes him "weak" and I love that V's existence allowed Nero to form some kind of relationship with his father during the game. And I love how Vergil finds out about Nero being his son (I headcanon that during all the game V/Vergil thought Nero was Dante's son):
Dante: You cut off your own son's arm.
Vergil: I don't care abou my son!
(BEAT) *Vergil thinks for a moment about what they have just yelled at each other while fighting*
Vergil: Nero is my son???!!!
I also love two bits foreshadowing that we get abou V being actually Vergil:
PSS: I also need to know more about Nero's mom, even though in this game we're barely given anything about the parents.
Anyway.

I also love two bits foreshadowing that we get abou V being actually Vergil:
- V's poem about how he has "no name, I'm but two days old". I kind of remember that Urizen at some point also mentioned not having a name, because he "is power".
- V, that looks like he's about Nero's age, continuously refering to Nero as a child.
