Final Fantasy VII Remake
Jun. 11th, 2019 10:32 am Okay, finally watched all the FF7 news while having breakfast, because the Square Enix conference was at 3AM for me and, look, staying up until 2:30 AM for Bethesda nearly killed me.
Anyway. I'm.. Curious about the combat system? Last I heard, everyone was commenting that it took after the FF15 system (and Kingdom Hearts, but I haven't played that), but Cloud had an option that said "punisher mode" and the scorpion had a stagger bar and that sounds like FF13 to me?

Date: 2019-06-12 03:27 pm (UTC)Right now I'm half excited, half scared for the remake because of THIS article at Kotaku: https://kotaku.com/final-fantasy-vii-remake-feels-great-to-play-but-the-p-1835426634
Apparently, the first game is two discs and only about the Midgard part. I'm scared of how that's going to turn up, will there be too many fetch quests?
I keep remembering the disaster that was the Hobbit, because they tried to make three movies out of a tiny book.

Date: 2019-06-12 03:35 pm (UTC)But I happen to love all six stupid hours of the Hobbit trilogy, because digging into the details is like, my entire life.
And if we're spending lots of time in Midgar, there's got to be a whackton of Turks (yes, I love the Department of Administrative Research despite wanting to punch them right out) and environmental justice/planet-saving AVALANCHE stuff, so... net yay?

Date: 2019-06-12 03:57 pm (UTC)I always thought that they would do something like one game per disc, but apparently they're still not sure of how many games it will take to finish the whole remake.

I have a love-hate relationship with it. I love that they included the White Council and that Sauron was already messing around back then, but on the other hand I wish that Tauriel/Kili had been done far better.
PS: What do you think about the Amazon series based on the Second Age?

Date: 2019-06-12 04:04 pm (UTC)And yeeah, that's nervous-making. And I sort of thought they would too, y'know? (I'm also super nervous it's going to pull out of the Compilation stuff I so loathe, but... +shrugface+)
Heh! NO arguement whatsoever that the Tauriel/Kili thing could've been much better, but I rejoice that it exists at all (that she exists). Fanfic makes everything better.
I am... nervous. But also hopeful and excited!
My general approach to any adaptations of anything is to beat 'em with a wrench until they cough the good parts up for fic. But I grew up in DC comics.
