When history spoils the story
Jul. 22nd, 2019 11:17 am So. The Curse of Chalion. I have less than half of the book left and I really don't feel like reading the rest. It's not that the story is bad, the problem is that I already know this story.
Like, I'm pretty sure Bujold had a book about Spanish history opened next to her, because the political plot is literally thweCatholic Monarchs marriage.
Not really sane mother, princess has a younger brother, both siblings are called to court by their older brother, older brother tries to marry off his sister, younger brother dies. Princess, now the heir, decides to marry secretly a prince from another kingdom... AND the princess plans include "he will be king consort here and I'll be queen consort there".
History is taking me out of the story.
